Wildlands Tour of the Southern Blues

  • Blue Mountain Land Trust John Day OR (map)

Join biologist, author, and educator Mike Denny on a tour of birds and re recovery of the Southern Blue Mountains.

On our way to Scotty Creek, our first stop will be on Starr Ridge to explore and discover all the plants, insects and birds that have returned after the 2015 Canyon Creek Fire.

Our next stop will be at the Old Growth Ponderosa Pine trail & restroom, where we will look for several pine dwelling bird species such as the White-headed Woodpecker, the Pygmy Nuthatch, and the Red Crossbill. We will then head to Scotty Creek to view the early summer birds, native flowers, and insects of the area.
